Carol and Dylan

Pet's Breed:

Labradoodle

Why We Joined Faithful Paws:

Our Dylan is very friendly and loved by everyone in our neighborhood. Sharing him with others is easy to do, and if he can make someone smile or ease some stress or pain, then how wonderful! Volunteering in this way is very rewarding.

Where We Visit:

Fort Bend County Child Advocate Center, Texas Children’s Hospital, and Sugar Mill Elementary

Our Story:

Dylan’s superpower is relieving people of their fear of dogs. An adult employee had been afraid of dogs her whole life. Then, over several months of visits, she moved closer and closer until now she pets him and gives him treats. She was so surprised that she had a colleague take a picture of Dylan with her to send to her adult children. She said they would never believe it if she only told them.

Another time Dylan showed this superpower involved a young boy around nine and his mother. Neither wanted to come near Dylan. Slowly over about 30 minutes, the boy got up the courage to ask if he could pet him. Within a few minutes, he was asking him to sit and shake and then give him a treat. Then he was offering more and more money to buy him, from $200 up to a billion! The mother later came over and started petting him and exclaimed, “I can’t believe it! I’ve never touched a dog before.” Before they left, they were taking pictures and hugging him. That was a 2-for-1 day!
