Why We Joined Faithful Paws:

My first therapy dog, Jed, a Golden Retriever, had been a member of Faithful Paws for seven years. He got cancer at 14 years old and died in April 2024. In the meantime, my Goldendoodle, Willow, had a litter of eight puppies. I had gotten Willow from someone who died of Covid. I was absolutely convinced that Jed was my one and only therapy dog. No one could replace his gentle, caring spirit. Once the eight puppies matured a bit, I singled out two puppies that had potential as therapy dogs. Ruby Sue is the most obedient, sweet-spirited dog, and she started her journey as a therapy dog as a member of Faithful Paws at 18 months old. I love this organization impact of being able to interact with people who need us.

Where We Visit:

Methodist Hospital, Brazoria Co. Nursing Homes – Country Village, Cypress Woods, Creekside, Carriage Inn, Sodalis, and Woodlake. We also sign up for as many one-time visits as we can!

Our Story:

Ruby Sue is young and still a little nervous. She is getting more comfortable placing her paws on a patient’s bedside. She likes to get right next to them in a loving way and loves being loved on. Tears are often shed by everyone in the room during one of our visits. We hug…and closeness and lots of emotions are felt by all. I love it, the patient loves it, and Ruby Sue is at the heart of it all.
